McVeigh bid for new trial denied by Denver judge
U S District Judge Richard Matsch rejected Timothy McVeighs bid for a new trial in the Oklahoma City bombing case. Defense claimed juror bias and pretrial publicity. prosecutors argued the trial was fair and close to perfect. McVeigh was convicted in June of murder conspiracy and weapons counts and sentenced to death for the 1995 attack that killed 168 and injured more than 500.
