AmVets Conventions Amid Legionnaires Disease Fears
In Philadelphia AmVets rally despite 27 deaths from a mysterious illness linked to a recent American Legion convention. Officials expect around 2,000 AmVets to attend as some members withdraw over health fears. Medical researchers probe poisonous exposures and no new Legion cases have appeared. A doctor will be on call at the VA Hospital. In Mexico City, the State Department plans to add consular officers to assist U.S. citizens jailed there.
