A 14 year old Lynn Gadomski wins attention at the Erie County Fair in Perkins near Sandusky during the five day event. The fair continues through Sunday with exhibits and fair activities attracting local families.
Democratic candidate George McGovern plans a statewide and regional campaign tour during the Republican convention week August 21 23 in Miami Beach. He will visit Texas Illinois Ohio and Wisconsin and may meet Lyndon B. Johnson and appear at events in Chicago St Paul and New England.
U S B52 bombers carried out the heaviest raids of the war in the 24 hours to noon. They executed 150 strikes dropping over 3000 tons on supply caches staging areas and troop concentrations across North and South Vietnam. Casualties included several Americans and Vietnamese. crashes killed and injured crewmen and refugees. Viet Cong and North Vietnamese attacks intensified along central and northern coasts with renewed fighting near Da Nang and Cam Ranh Bay amid dwindling U S forces.
