Vote irregularities probe shows winner should have lost
Secretary of State Ted W. Brown said a May primary probe found enough nullified and improperly marked ballots to indicate that the declared winner actually lost by a large margin in the 17th Ward precinct. Mrs. Lucinda Walker, who lost to Mrs. Mary Hughes, requested the inquiry and described watching a booth worker handling folded ballots and a count with de faced ballots. The results cannot be changed, but Brown will pursue measures to prevent recurrences as the investigation continues.
