Acquittal in trooper's death shocks Cleveland
In Cleveland a driver, Joshua Gaspar, was acquitted of vehicular homicide in the Sept 15 crash that killed Trooper Kenneth Velez. Jurors found him not guilty of OUI but convicted him of several misdemeanors including falsification and record tampering. The defense argued the crash was an accident and that methadone did not impair his driving. A community event, a 5K run in Velez's honor, is planned with a scholarship fund dinner forthcoming.
