Elyria fights tax devaluation of Fisher Guide plant
Elyria City School District opposes a proposed 6.6 million drop in the Fisher Guide plant valuation arguing a complex sale structure created the tax break. If devaluation stands, property tax revenues would fall about 67 thousand dollars next year, impacting other area businesses. The board of revision will rule later this month. Attorney Timothy Armstrong contends Maynards Industries and Northern Ohio Associates were partners prior to GM selling to Maynards for 13.8 million last fall.
