Ad agency predicts only three hit fall TV series
Saatchi & Saatchi DFS Compton forecasts three hit programs from NBC and ABC among 22 new fall series. NBCs My Two Dads and A Different World and AB Cs Hooperman top the agency’s 1 to 10 scale, with Slap Maxwell Franks Place and Private Eye as solid contenders. Two niche fantasy shows Once a Hero and Beauty and the Beast are long shots. The report notes a transitional 1987 88 season with more male leads and nontraditional families, a rise in dramas especially police fare, and fewer movie slots. A Nielsen Peoplemeter shift could favor younger urban male audiences. Betsy Frank and Debbie Myers authored the study.
