Boy Dies After Truck Hits Elyria Cyclist on Broad Street
Nine year old Craig Lee Goddard of 121 West Bridge Street died at Elyria Memorial Hospital after a collision with a truck in downtown Elyria. He rode west on the south sidewalk in the 600 block of West Broad Street when the truck emerged from an alley striking both him and his bicycle. Police said the driver blew his horn before the impact and an investigation was ongoing at presstime.

North Ridgeville girl drowns after dock fall
A 5-year-old North Ridgeville girl wandered from her parents while they dined on a boat at Beaver Park Marina and drowned after falling from a dock. Charlene E Casper, daughter of Lawrence and Charlene Casper, was pronounced dead at St Joseph Hospital at 10 57 p m after divers recovered her body. The death was ruled an accidental drowning by the Lorain County coroner.

Soviet airliner crash near Irkutsk kills about 100
