John W. Davis toured Clarksburg urging party unity and concerted effort for the November election. He addressed the Democratic National Committee, sought veteran support, and appealed for guidance from party leaders. Local crowds greeted him with warmth as he worked to rally backing across factions.

An auto accident on Lake avenue last evening involved George Birkline of this city and KE R. Jinn of Lorain. Birkline overturned his car. Miss Gertrude Rirkline, niece of Jorge George Hirk line, suffered severe head bruises and was taken to Memorial hospital but not admitted.
Lorain County Bar Association met at the courthouse and voted to attend the funeral of the late Lee Stroup in a body. A committee of H. C. Johnson, Frank A. Stetson and Lawrence Webber was appointed to draft appropriate resolutions on his death.
Six boys aged ten to thirteen were killed near Barrow while praying. They were tied to trees and shot by assailants calling themselves Indians who believed their guns were unloaded. The incident occurred in Hanover Germany on August 11.
Mrs Jane Pelter of 437 Louisiana Ave fractured her left lower limb in a fall Saturday at 5 10 p m. She was admitted to Memorial hospital for treatment.
A traveling man from Lima identified as F. A. Lee Tos hanged himself in a Lorain hotel yesterday. An attendant found the body and a coroner was notified. Letters to his wife and son said he faced possible discharge for poor business. the body was sent to Lima today.
Columbus August 11 candidates and managers expressed confidence as polls open. For the Republican Governor nomination eight candidates entered. six issued optimistic statements as supporters were urged to turnout. Names cited include Harry L. Davis James A. White John F. Burke C Homer Durand Joseph B. Beiber and George B. Harris. Conn Cable and Harry Clay Smith offered limited public remarks.
This morning Judge W B Thompson heard the divorce case of Jessie M Trish against Frank Irish former Lorain county recorder and granted a divorce to Laura Harrington of Lorain from Perry J Harrington on gross neglect of duty and wilful absence. Henry Ford declines senate bid but may allow name on ballot by default per Detroit dispatch dated Aug 11.
The prince of Wales plans a brief Washington visit to attend polo matches in New York and will be Coolidge's guest at the White House for a few hours.
J F Burke, a Republican candidate, declares he will not use the paper for personal campaigning. He denounces crooked party bosses Rud Hynicka Maurice Maselike and Harry M Daugherty and argues for honesty, efficiency, and public service in state government. He urges voters to decide by conscience on Tuesday and rejects machine governance.
Police justice J. George presided as twelve men charged with liquor law offenses were fined according to offense level. Among them Andy Redey and Lee Davis paid five dollars and costs for intoxication, while W J Bailey Jr faced 75 dollars and costs after pleading not guilty to driving an auto while intoxicated. Others included Frank R Ko and John Smith with varying sums, and a disrupted club raid led to additional convictions.
Eleanor Ursen of 951 Hust Riverstreet was struck at 1 40 pm Saturday by an auto driven by Mr. Snitzler. The car mounted the sidewalk and knocked her down injuring her left arm slightly. She was taken to the hospital but admission was not required.
A group of ex servicemen from Elyria plan to attend the 271st division reunion in Findlay on Aug 31 to Sept 2. The 145th infantry includes Company B from Elyria as part of the division. Military authorities in Nashville opened an investigation into the Old Hickory Powder Plant fire that destroyed property estimated at 28.6 million dollars.
Harry B. Vallier of Marine City Mich. was arrested in Cleveland for issuing a $20 forged Lorain Drug Co. check and pleaded guilty. He is held on 2500 bond with a hearing set for August 14. Joseph Keller of Melrose Park Ill. was bound over to court on a 3300 bond for daylight burglary after neighbors reported a break in at C. E. Kuntz’s home. The report also notes AFL officials, returning from Atlantic City, notified Senator Robert La Follette of labor backing this week via Samuel Gompers.
In Chicago the prosecution pressed a savage attack on the defense alienists conclusions about Nathan Leopold Jr and Richard Loeb claiming mental disorder made them murderers. Dr Hulbert clashed with state attorney Crowe as testimony traced adolescence and temperament through lengthy expert definitions.
Police responded to an attempted hold up near the railroad tracks when Clark and his ally with a shotgun repelled five men. Later officers detained fifteen colored and four white men at the Abbe road old balting works camping for the night, and sent them out of town the next morning.

Additional fatalities occur from a car train crash in LaPorte Indiana and a street shooting in Savannah Georgia.
A Milwaukee area note says Fireman Emil Meschke of Hose Co. No 1 sent two crocodiles to friends in Marinette Wisconsin. The reptiles arrived alive and are being fed pine knots until the giver’s return. Officials may relocate them to a park fountain.
A man arrived Saturday at Ridgeville Metgher garage in an Overland, asked to park and sleep in the car, was allowed to stay, then departed with two inner tubes and two tires belonging to the garage owner. The incident notes the garages valued at 968, with further mention of railroad locomotive issues in Washington, Ag. 11.
