Soviet trial transcripts released by The Plain Dealer challenge Italian charges that John Demjanjuk served as a Treblinka guard and was in Trieste. Three Ukrainian guards testified that Ivan Marezenko, not Demjanjuk, ran Treblinka gas chambers and was sent to Italy in 1943. Demjanjuk, 72, remains jailed in Israel on death row while his lawyers cite other Nazi records placing him at Sobibor Majdanek and Flossenberg.
Attendance on the first two days of the 17 day Ohio State Fair rose slightly from 1991. Saturday’s turnout was 180,956, down from 190,480 last year, while the two day total stood at 314,970, above 312,294 a year ago. Opening day reached 134,014 versus 121,814 then.

H and R Block offers an income tax course in Lorain County to train people as tax preparers. Morning afternoon and weekend classes cover tax law theory and practice with discussions and problems. Graduates receive a certificate and CEUs and may be offered job interviews with H and R Block.
