Walleye tale turns to sheephead in humorous local column
Mary Ann Kershaw’s fishing tale from Port Clinton ends with an 8 1/2 pound, 24 inch beaming catch labeled a big walleye until a misread moment reveals a sheephead. Ed, principal of Clearview, jokes about returning to walleye fishing as the beaver backed erosion fix plan gains attention. The column also notes the Polish Fishermen's Club Lorain picnic date Aug 26 and a Milan Edison High School hunter education course Aug 20-23 with preregistration by Aug 15.

Game Protectors Do More Than Just Law Enforcement
The state game protector’s duties span wildlife law enforcement, stream pollution control, fish management, and annual surveys across counties. Seasonal tasks include fish stocking, pheasant stocking, habitat plantings, and deer damage work. Public relations and education via talks to schools, clubs, and youth groups occupy much of the year.
Wildlife Council Sets Ohio 1984 Migratory Bird Seasons
The Ohio Wildlife Council approved 1984 migratory game bird seasons with specific dates and limits for rails, snipe, woodcock, gallinules, and teal. Rules require hunters to hold an Ohio license plus an Ohio Wetlands Habitat Stamp and a federal Migratory Bird Stamp. The council also adjusted Lake Erie commercial fishing rules, restricting live white perch movement and establishing size limits for white bass white perch hybrids.
