Suspect Arrested in Wellington Woman Slaying
An anonymous tip led to the 2 p.m. arrest of Oberlin man Walter Champe 65 for first degree murder in the Monday afternoon slaying of Mamie Duval 65 of 113 Elm St Wellington. Champe was taken by six Lorain County deputies at an East Hamilton Street Oberlin residence and appeared in Oberlin Municipal Court. The case was continued to tomorrow at 11 a.m. to allow consult with his family and attorney.

Two Die In Mitiwanga Rt. 6 Head-On Crash
Lorain man John Hromiak aged 61 and Huron area boat livery owner Bernard Meyer aged 68 were killed in a two car head-on collision on Route 6 near Hahn Road. Meyer’s boat livery operated at Orchard Beach for 23 years. A 15 year old passenger in the Meyer car and Hromiak’s daughter‑in‑law and two grandsons were treated and released. Funeral arrangements are listed for Hormiak and Meyer.
