24 Rescued After U S Air Transport Crashes In Desert
A U S C 119 Flying Boxcar crashed in the Libyan Desert 70 miles southwest of Wheelus Air Force Base. All 24 aboard were rescued by helicopter and Wheelus personnel. Pilot Capt. James Sholty led the crew of 6 and 18 passengers from Udine Italy to Wheelus Hospital with none seriously injured. The wreckage was located after a search that began Saturday night when the aircraft was unreported.

Boy still in critical condition after bicycle crash
