Big Scale Fight Along Siberian Front Involves Japan Russia
Tokyo reports a major clash on a five mile frontier as Japanese and Russian forces trade heavy losses after an eleven hour battle from Changufeng to the frontier line. Both sides dug trenches and erected barbed wire while tanks and mountain guns entered the fighting. Russian air raids on frontier towns drew Japanese anti air fire as Tokyo prepared for a possible renewed assault. A Japanese war office statement said Japanese hold Changkufeng with Russians nearby and a new major push was anticipated. Foreign officials noted Japan seeks a three nation commission with one Japanese one Manchukuoan and one Russian member, or a joint Japanese Manchukuoan designation and a separate Russian one.
