Lorain Phone Workers Strike Over Contract Offer
About 280 Lorain Telephone Co. workers walked off the job at 8 02 p.m. in a contract dispute forcing supervisors to staff switchboards and skip new phone installations. The union rejected the company’s wage and cost of living adjustments, citing insufficient raises for low seniority workers. Lorain Telephone serves roughly 45000 customers across Lorain and nearby towns. No new negotiating sessions are planned, and bills can be paid by mail or at banks.
