Rain jeopardized many races but Sandusky Speedway promoters pressed on, completing the program. Norwalk Raceway Park faced lightning outages delaying timing systems and forcing racers to return home. Cloverleaf restarts with AMRA midgets and stock classes, plus big kids night and a sport stock championship moved to Aug. 17. Gates vary from 5:30 to 6 p.m. with 7:30 p.m. or 7 p.m. race starts.
San dusky action heats up with the open wheel class ahead of the $40,000 Supermodified Nationals. Jim Bodnar stable leads, twin Shullick cars loom, and Bodnar roadsters have dominated Sandusky for three years as teams test tire setups and gear ratios. Also semi late models and sport stock race with prize battles shaping standings. Racing begins at 7 30 p.m.
Rain delayed the Summer 100 Super Late Model Invitational to Sunday, eighth rainout of the year at Sharon Speedway. The $7,500 purse includes $1,500 to win with gates at 5 pm, time trials 5:30 pm, green flag 7 pm. Ron of Hermitage leads Sharon Cup standings 147 to 132 over Glenn Gault, as several drivers chase in a tight field.
Hartland Auto Stores and Norwalk Raceway Park present the 7th Annual Summer Championship with a 3500 purse across Super Pro Pro Heavy and Street classes. Double points, eliminators, and Monster Eliminator final. gates open 4 pm, time trials 4 30 pm, eliminations 8 30 pm. admittance Car and driver 10, crew 6, spectators 4, kids 1.
Rich Vogler captured his fourth USAC Sprint feature in five outings at Terre Haute, driving the Siebert Chevy to the lead at the Action Track and pulling 22 points ahead of idle Steve Chassey. Vogler sits on 473 points. Chassey 451, with a July Eldora injury sidelining him from late July.
