Avon Lake officials seek reelection to school board and council
Corinne Peak and Theodore Stumphauzer filed petitions for reelection to the Avon Lake Lorain County Board of Education. Peak, appointed in 1961 to fill a vacancy, has served on the finance committee and attends Lorain County Community College. Stumphauzer, president, is a civil engineer and T.J. Hume Co. vice president, a Fenn College graduate, and former Ohio National Guard member. Wakefield, councilman at large, also sought reelection after being appointed in January to fill a vacancy and serving on multiple city committees.

Avon Lake residents John Haney, 172 Beck Rd., the incumbent, and Maurice Babcock, 32822 Lake Rd., a former board member, filed petitions Wednesday for two four year terms on the Board of Municipal Utilities. Babcock, regional sales manager for Miles Laboratory in Cleveland, had been appointed in 1957 to fill an unexpired term of Garrison L. Moore.
