Removal of elms up to par in Oberlin area
Compliance with the first 29 elm removal notices sent in June is good says Frank Zavodsky director of Public Works. Seven property owners removed diseased trees 11 others have contracted to remove when service crews can reach them remaining one will likely be done by the city at owner expense. City costs range 50 to 200 dollars per tree depending on size and hazards. Zavodsky has not yet checked owners who received a second batch last month and plans to raise the issue at the Friday council meeting. In Bandera County Texas sugar maple trees established a sizeable stand near Vanderpool, not native to the Southwest, their origin unknown to residents.
