Geoffrey Arvin 29 of Vermilion on the Lake dies at St Joseph's Hospital Lorain from skull fracture after his car struck a utility pole on Route 57 north of Route 254. Arvin led Arvin Specialty Co and attended naval reservist meeting with Joseph Devenney. Devenney 28 hospitalized in fair condition. Funeral Friday at Edward M. Fisher Home with full military rites. Cremation planned.

A collision on Route 20 east of Route 76 at 9 05 last night injured five year old Joyce Shoemaker riding in a Columbia Station pickup with her parents. James Dodson 33 of North Olmsted was arrested for driving under the influence and driving with a temporary permit without a licensed driver. Dodson held in county jail awaiting arraignment.

Eight Die As Plane Explodes Aboard Boxer Carrier
The Navy reported that a jet fighter exploded in the Boxer aircraft carrier hangar deck off the Korean coast killing eight sailors. Twelve planes were destroyed and a fire forced crew to jump overboard before being rescued. The Boxer remained on mission 60 miles off Wonsan, North Korea.
