Lewis Accelerates Drive For 3,000,000 New Members
Washington Aug 7 UP John L Lewis sped the rebel committee of the industrial union toward a target of 3,000,000 new members after accepting AFL suspension as final. The move follows the ouster of 10 U S unions totaling 1,006,000 members on charges of insurrection and dual unionism. Green declined comment, hoping actions await the Tampa convention. Leaders say independent drives in steel and other mass industries will continue despite AFL opposition.
