Seabiscuit the horse and the movie compared
A reader weighs Seabiscuit as a film and as a historical racing icon. The piece notes Seabiscuit ranking 26th on Blood Horse magazine’s all time list behind Whirlaway and in a trio led by Man o War Secretariat and Citation. It discusses California racing dominance and key matchups with Swaps, Nashua, and Rex Ellsworth. The article highlights Seabiscuit’s early Derby impracticality, the owner C. S. Howard, and a demanding 40-race early career before a turnaround under a patient trainer and a one eyed jockey, ending with lifetime earnings of 427770.
