Skies were fair to partly cloudy across much of the nation with the Northeast forecast to see sunny conditions and the Southeast expecting scattered showers. Idaho high pressure aimed to pull hotter air into the interior Northwest, recently scarred by wildfires as rain and storms spread along the southern Atlantic coast and eastern Gulf of Mexico on Wednesday night.
Heavy rains caused the main street of Henryetta Oklahoma to flood four feet, displacing about 200 residents. Thunderstorms dropped hail the size of golf balls and toppled trees at Anti Och North Carolina and near Lancaster South Carolina. Ely Nevada reports small hail, heavy rain and street flooding.
