County personnel officer post draws few applicants

County officials described lack of publicity for job openings as a factor in the low applicant turnout for a $20,800 starting post. Six people applied after last month’s posting, compared with about two dozen when the position first existed in February 1986. The broad job requirements narrowed candidates, with four lacking college degrees. Marotta, a 24-year-old Cincinnati grad with a master’s in communications arts, was the sole candidate without “baggage.” The county plans further training and may broaden advertising in the future.
