Fourth Ward hopeful disqualified in Elyria council race
Elyria resident Chuck Messer, who recently moved back from Columbus, cannot fill the vacant Fourth Ward seat on Elyria City Council due to a one year ward residency requirement. Clerk Forrest Bullocks notified Messer he is ineligible after finding seven months of ward residency.

Man indicted for attempted murder after jail assault
A Cuyahoga County man, Eric Robinson, 47, of Parma, was indicted by a Lorain County grand jury on first degree attempted murder, third degree felonious assault, and fifth degree assault charges for allegedly attacking a Lorain County Jail corrections officer on June 23 after booking in. Prosecutor Dennis Will said Robinson attacked the officer during the intake process after his arrest on a theft charge.

Woman struck by projectile on Black River trail
Lorain County Metro Parks investigates injuries after a woman is hit by a projectile while jogging with another woman along the Bur Oak to Day's Dam trails in Black River Reservation. She was treated at University Hospitals Elyria Medical Center and is reported OK. Rangers and sheriff deputies canvassed the area with metal detectors.
