Tornadoes Touch Down Across Lorain County
Twisters raced through Lorain County on Sunday touching down in Henrietta Township Amherst and Lorain before dissipating near the Black River mouth. A large tree was uprooted on Baumhart Road in Henrietta Township and gutters and power lines were damaged. A resident near Rome Beauty Drive in Amherst reported a thin funnel and a 75 mph wind event. Local officials described two weak touchdowns with scattered property damage and one heart attack death linked to a prior outage.

13-Year-Old Pianist Kei Niedra Shines Internationally
Kei Niedra, an eighth grader at North Ridgeville Middle School, studied under Oberlin Conservatory instructor Hae won Song and reached the Oberlin Piano Competition final on July 26, placing fifth.
