Ohio Lotto awaits record $24 million jackpot draw
Cleveland and Elyria report frenzied ticket buying as the Ohio Lotto reaches an estimated $24 million jackpot with potential to top $35 million next week. Officials note heavy sales from Ohio and border-state residents, and forecast a final weekend total near $23 million before the 7:25 p.m. drawing. The Lotto, begun in 1983, pays out in 20 annual installments, with profits funding state education. Lottery telecast will air live from WEWS-TV.

Columbia delays apartment decision in highway district
The Columbia Township Zoning Board postponed any verdict on housing apartments in the highway business district, continuing the public hearing to September 6 at 8 p.m. at the town hall. The County Planning Commission recommended against apartments in the district, citing it defeats zoning aims and suggesting rezoning if built. A separate public hearing on fence and shrub setbacks from the right of way was also set for September 6.
