Firelands school funding bid fails in third try
Firelands Schools failed to win voter support for a $35.7 million plan to merge high and middle schools at one site. In Lorain and Erie Counties the 3.61 mill property tax and 0.25 percent income tax were rejected by about 60 percent, with 1,282 against to 813 for in Lorain and 358 against to 208 for in Erie. The levy would have cost a $100,000 home about $132 yearly and funded most of the project locally. The district serves 1,700 students over 94 square miles.
