Giant Mohawk chenille rug decorates New Yorks Roxy foyer
The New York Roxy theater unveils the world’s largest oval rug, a 41 by 58 foot Mohawk chenille carpet weighing over two tons. crafted in two sections, it required 18 designers and 8.56 million color squares, with 17 million yarn tufts. A publicity drill by Company G of the 5th Infantry from Amsterdam accompanied its arrival, drawing applause from stars and reporters.
