Pioneer 10 probes after long silence regain contact
NASA says Pioneer 10, launched in 1972, contacted via Madrid antenna after 29 years of silence. The probe, now 7.29 billion miles from Earth, first crossed the asteroid belt and Jupiter and left the solar system in 1983. Communication remains challenging due to its eight-watt transmitter and distant signal.
