Federal jury indicts CEI as lake polluter

A federal grand jury indicted Cleveland Electric Illuminating Co and three other firms on pollution counts for dumping fly ash and industrial waste into Lake Erie and local waterways. CEI faces 20 counts. Avon Lake plant blamed for 800 pounds of fly ash dumping between March 8 and 14. Other defendants include Shell Oil Co, Uniroyal Chemical Division, and Olin Corp with multiple counts. The probe followed a three day inquiry. penalties range from 500 to 2500 dollars per count.

Judge allows Amtrak takeover move despite objections

Full pike exit in county not in state's plan now

Lorain County planners pressed for a second full interchange on the Ohio Turnpike near West Ridge Road. State Highway Director J. Phillip Richley told the Lorain County Regional Planning Commission that the state will not build a new full interchange now but may consider one later.
