Savannah port oxygen bubblers proposed to aid deepening plan
Government engineers plan 12 20 foot oxygen bubblers to maintain dissolved oxygen as the Savannah River harbor is deepened for container ships. The $70 million system would mix air and water, pumping oxygen back into the river with annual costs of $1.2 million, part of a $653 million dredging project amid environmental debate.
