Pair of senators float alternate budget plan

State Senator Kirin Fingernut and State Sen. Marc Dann propose an alternative to Gov. Taft's plan to cut the penny sales tax and offer a 21 percent tax cut to small businesses that reinvest in Ohio. Their plan keeps the sales tax, funds governments and schools, and shifts revenue toward economic development and targeted tax relief. Fingernut cites 240 million in loans for regional development, tuition assistance, and Medicare audits as cost-saving measures while aiming to keep students in state colleges.
