Amherst Weakly Presses Ohio For Oak Point Road Interchange
Amherst Mayor Anthony DePaola told the city council he aims to meet with Governor Rhodes to push Oak Point Road interchange with Route 2. The city plans about 536000 as its share, while Lorain covers roughly 60000. State issue funds were set in 1972 but not released. state officials have not prioritized the project. DePaola and Rep Scribner Fauver are pressing to move it forward. In other business, the council criticized a 780 bill for defending councilmen in a pay-raise dispute, referred to the finance committee. DePaola vetoed a 3380 pay raise for the police chief as excessive, noting potential overtime eligibility. The body adopted ordinances for mutual fire aid with Florence and Birmingham townships, water line activation upon maintenance bond, and a new permit and inspection fee schedule under the building code.
