Lorain County led a tri county retail upswing for the week ending April 17 with prepaid sales tax receipts up 2548.67 to 43429.05 from 1953. Erie and Huron declined, Lorain also shows strong year to date gains totaling 2,165,102.69 versus 2,081,228.19. Gains centered in general and department stores chains and miscellaneous groups with furniture showing only a small rise.

Woman 65 Hurt When Open Car Door Strikes Her

Driver Lucille Schrimer 70 of 23 Colonial Apartments said she thought Day had entered the car. Police report Day lay unconscious bleeding from the left ear as authorities arrived. This marks the 15th vehicle injury of the month and Elyria’s Deathless Days traffic record rose to 684 days.
