Chronicle Telegram carriers from city and suburban associations earned top honors at the 16th annual Carrier Awards in Elyria High School auditorium. Winners were chosen from 21 routes with 124 suburban and 95 city carriers evaluated, with 15 outer carriers receiving certificates and honor pins.

Wellington Soldier to Be Laid to Rest Saturday
Wellington honors T4 Robert Seiter 26 killed February 6 1946 when motorcycle collided with a bus in Porto Rico. He served six months in Porto Rico and was the fourth Wellington native to die in World War II. Service 2 pm at Wellington Church of Christ with Andrews Funeral Home and veterans groups in charge. Surviving are his parents Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Seiter a daughter Cherrel and sister Mrs. Darwin Stocking plus Ambrose Toth of Wellington.

Giant Coal And Ore Facility Dedicated At Lorain
The Baltimore and Ohio Railroad formally dedicated a new 4 million dollar lakefront coal and ore handling facility at Lorain on April 24 1948. The plant features an electrically operated 70 ton per minute dumper a 125 ton pan with automatic water spray and a telescopic chute. Docks and yard capacity enable fast unloading and vessel turnaround. The dedication program included Mayor Patrick J Flaherty and B O Railroad officials with a luncheon and music by the Lorain High School band.

Elyria's El Rey Grotto will host all ritual work at the state Grotto convention in Cedar Point on September 3 and 4. Seven hundred members from Elvira Cleveland Akron Sandusky Toledo and Mansfield attended the spring ceremonial at Gates School. John R. Military Funeral Held for Charles Jor Blaha in New London
The first military funeral in New London for a local man killed overseas is set for Saturday for Charles Jor Blaha 21 who fell in the ETO on July 21 1944. Services at 2 pm conducted by Rev W H Mitchell at Fitch Funeral Home followed by a guard of honor from Fitchville Memorial Post 729 to the Fitchville Methodist church four miles away. Burial at Fitchville cemetery. He is survived by his widow Lida P Blaha and daughter Rosemary of Townsend his mother Mrs Mary Krisha and stepfather Joseph Krisha of New London two brothers one sister five half brothers and three half sisters. Services on Eastern Standard Time.
