Josette Hamilton a 34 year old Elmhurst resident pleaded guilty to theft by deception for faking cancer to raise more than 43 000 from neighbors and civic groups. She was sentenced to six months in the DuPage County Jail and ordered to repay 43 256 with 24 years probation. Donors donated cash food and clothes while authorities froze her bank accounts containing over 34 000.
