County to Fight Barberry Gush
Lorato County starts a 1934 Barberry eradication drive within days as part of the Public Works Program to put men to work. Eight or ten local workers, supervised by Everett T. Miller, will survey the county for barberry bushes condemned for spreading Black Stem Rust. The shrub, 1 to 10 feet tall with spiny serrated leaves and three-pointed thorns, is described, and residents are urged to report any bushes observed.
