Election Only Week Away Tired Candidates Sharpen Verbal Tools In Campaign
A week before primary day weary candidates and their representatives busied themselves with travel and repeated pitches. They spoke last night to the Southern Lorain County Women’s Republican Club in Wellington, drawing a small audience. Candidates blamed party leadership for endorsing Baumhart and debated who could best unite independents and awakened Democrats. Baumhart touted a safe Eisenhower majority and the GOP’s balance in Congress, while Kellogg claimed his own bid would attract voters and give Lorain County influence in the district.
