Feathered dinosaur fossil fuels bird origin debate

A duck sized dinosaur from Liaoning Province China with a downy feather like coat dates 126 to 147 million years ago. Researchers say the body coverings were insulation and may indicate theropods were warm blooded and predated Archaeopteryx. Skeptics question whether these structures are true feathers. The find, on display at the American Museum of Natural History, highlights ongoing controversy over whether birds evolved from theropods.
