Toastmasters: A Mature Path to Confidence and Speaking
Cy Barrett explains Toastmasters International as a nonprofit club for adults over 18 aiming to boost self confidence through speaking. Each club meets weekly with up to 40 members, features six speeches plus friendly criticism, and charges initiation fees of 5 to 10 dollars. The ongoing formula emphasizes concise openings, clear conclusions, and steady progression. The piece notes the organization includes many leaders and professionals and has grown to 3,600 clubs with 75,000 members since its 41-year founding by Ralph C. Smedley. It also references basic money making ideas for cartoonists and promotes a home study directory offered by Cy Barrett.
