The Chronicle Telegram surveyed 13 Elyria residents about the aborted Tehran hostage rescue. Reactions criticized President Carter for delaying action and questioned the decision to halt once begun, with comparisons to the Bay of Pigs and calls for stronger measures.
Elyria pharmacist Mukhtar A. Syed 38, charged with eight counts of selling codeine without prescription after MEG raid on West Side Pharmacy 105 Lake Ave. Police recovered handgun and loaded shotgun. Syed previously exchanged gunfire with a robber in March 1979.
