Elyria Names Athlete as Assistant Recreation Director

One of Elyria's top athletes has been named city's assistant recreation director. James T. Tracey announced Thurman Taylor, 317 18th St., will begin duties Monday, succeeding Tom Fabian. Salary $7,562. Taylor, a 1957 Elyria High graduate, excelled in baseball, basketball and football, and was once offered a Yankees contract. He replaces Fabian who left last August.
