World Security Organization talks open in San Francisco
British Foreign Minister Anthony Eden joins United Nations delegates in San Francisco for the opening session of the Conference on International Organization. The aim is to draft a charter for collective action to safeguard peace, not a peace conference, with Truman to seek Senate ratification. Disputes over Poland and Argentina, veto powers, and Vandenberg amendments color the opening debates as nations press for the Dumbarton Oaks framework to adapt.
