Wildfire reaches Myrtle Beach area as emergency declared
A wildfire spread toward a Myrtle Beach tourist corridor as many as 70 homes were damaged or emptied while residents evacuated along a 4 mile western stretch near the Intracoastal Waterway. The governor declared a county state of emergency and five schools closed due to dense smoke.
