Evolution of the football T formation gains ground in practice
Spring practice signals a shift from single wing to wider use of the T formation. Navy Cornell Colgate Georgia Tech Minnesota and Kansas are among schools exploring the system, with Shaughnessy and Stanford among earlier adopters. The move stresses ball handling speed and deception over power as coaches weigh fits for their personnel. Weather limits today’s slate as Gardner’s team hosts a key matchup.

Slim Odds Of Any Pitcher Reaching Twenty Wins In 1945
CARL LANDOTTar surveys wartime baseball prospects and finds that only a few pitchers reached 20 victories in 1944. Names like Dizzy Trout Curt Davis Paul Derringer and others show potential, but most teams lack depth, making a 20-win season unlikely this year.

Parma Packers Edge Pioneers In Low-Scoring League Opener
Parma scored twice in the fifth inning as Peters, Schweinfurth and Reimer produced key hits to back a strong pitching display. The Pioneers mustered little offense, with Kritics and Sutliff misjudging plays as Parma won 2-0 at Metropolitan Field on Sunday.
Elyria Pioneers Batteries Fall Short in Narrow Loss
Fitzpatrick led off with a single and O Connor and Browne left stranded as Parma’s Peterka, Fitzpatrick, and Klimek anchored a strong Elyria lineup. Despite bold baserunning and a clutch double by Sutliff in the sixth, a double play killed a late rally and the Pioneers fell in a tight contest.
