Lake Erie fishing report highlights walleye and perch activity
Walleye action centers on the reef complex north of Camp Perry and the Marblehead area with surface temps in the 40s to near 50. Jigging and trolling near reefs, Maumee Bay, Turtle Creek, and north of Kelleys Island yield larger females, with trollers around Camp Pony Firing Range. Perch fishing runs strong between Marblehead docks, the lighthouse, and off Lorain, using perch spreaders with shiners. Steelhead are fading as rivers clear after showers, with active fish along middle to lower beaches and in small tributaries and some moving into lower river sections. Look for shallow water later.

Fisheries biologist Ed Lewis notes weed beds and large lakes drive the state fishery, with muskies over 50 inches recorded and a state record of 50 inches.
