Shotton Named Dodgers Manager Amid Durocher Firing
Russ Davies reports Barney Shotton, Lorain County native and former minor and major league infielder and coach, appointed manager of the Brooklyn Dodgers after Leo Durocher’s suspension. The piece traces Shotton’s career from local baseball in Amherst to major league service with the Browns, Senators, and Indians, and notes mixed reactions to his tenure. It also mentions coaching assignments at Bucyrus High and area prep programs and references a Cleveland scribbler’s critique of Shotton’s third-base coaching.
