Thaw disrupts Philadelphia court crowd with nervous outburst

Henry Thaw caused a courtroom scene in Philadelphia as he rushed the press table, shook reporters’ hands, and spoke frantically about breaking the jury. Bailiffs ejected him and attendees, while Judge Monaghan called for order amid a luncheon recess.

Texas Fire Fatalities Claim Father and Daughter

A blaze in Hamden Texas April 22 killed a father and his daughter in their home. Firemen found the bodies near the kitchen doorway with investigators tracing the blaze to its origin leaving another body found in the yard and an unidentified person missing after the fire.

Lancaster and Columbus News Briefs The April Murders and Shootings

In Lancaster on April 2 a 14 year old, Gaston, shot and killed his father Allan Gaston after a confrontation. The boy fled. the father died from wounds. In Columbus on April 22 Gibson, 65, died after paralysis led to a fatal night incident. A broader county search follows for a murderer alleged to have stolen money. In Columbus a gunfight at Memorial Hall left one man dead and several wounded including Patrolman Troy Stewart and Charles Thomas. The origin of the clash involved a party of dancers and a disturbance between rival groups.

Sophia Marsh 77 Dies. Funeral Thursday at Sudro

Mrs. Sophia Marsh aged 77 died at her son Vernon C. Marsh's home 404 Park Avenue this morning at 4 30. She is survived by her son one brother of Toledo and three grandchildren. She had been a partial invalid for ten years. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 1 00 at Sudro Funeral Home with Rev. W. J. Burnet officiating. Burial will be in Brownheim Cemetery, her birthplace.

Henrietta Children Share Eight Grandparents This Week

Naomi Jewel Kothe aged three and her brother Lewis James ten months, of Hemmetta, are noted to have eight grandparents including Hine Pivachand and Shane Many Fathers. Great grandparents include Mr. and Mrs. John Koepke and Mrs. Vina Bloomfield. Grandparents listed: Mr. and Mrs. James Obitsall of Gratton Otto. Also mentioned are great grandparents Mrs. C. Braun of Oberlin and Mr. and Mrs. L. W. Kothe of Henrietta. An uncle is named though no aunts. Mrs. John Koepke has four aunts over eighty. Grandparent ages span 46 to 81.

Arrests Expected In Klan Flogging Incident

Four men are to be arrested today for assaulting two Ku Klux Klan members in Cincinnati Ohio. They abducted the Klansmen in an automobile stripped them and flogged their backs as they were dumped in the city’s center. A $2000 reward was authorized for the arrest and conviction of one suspect, with secrecy surrounding the assailants. The attack followed a Klan demonstration on Saturday that involved burning crosses across several county areas.
