Black student groups at Lorain County Community College and Cornell University push for reforms. At LCCC a five member Progressive bloc demanded an admission that the college is racist and creation of black controlled and advisory structures plus black staffed courses. At Cornell students seized the Student Union and armed guards ringed the Afro American Center while administrators signed an amnesty to avoid civil action.

Nixon seeks tax reform to cut surcharge and repeal investment credit
President Nixon urged Congress to cut the 10 percent income tax surcharge to 5 percent next fiscal year and repeal the 7 percent investment tax credit. 23 U S ships deploy to back Korean reconnaissance flights
A 23 ship task force including four aircraft carriers is formed to back up President Nixon's pledge to protect reconnaissance planes in the Sea of Japan after North Korea's dawn attack on an unarmed EC121.
