Second Victim Dies in Rt 33 Crash Victims Named

Alfred A. Taylor of 615 E Broad Street will appear in mayor s court April 27 to answer assault and gambling charges. He was arrested yesterday at City Grille on a complaint from Hazel Smith of Sederis Hotel who said he struck her at the Sederis bar. A search at the police station found horse race betting slips and he was booked on a gambling charge.

Flames Destroy 35 by 54 Foot Crawford Barn Near Birmingham
Fire of unknown origin yesterday afternoon destroyed a 35 by 54 foot bank barn on the T. E. Crawford farm on Florence Wakeman Road near Birmingham. The blaze began about 4 p m, a neighbor Arthur Franklin spotted smoke, and within minutes flames engulfed the structure. Nearby granary and Harold Applemans barn were threatened but saved. A tractor plow five cows and forty sheep were moved to safety, along with hay and farm equipment. Fire department saved the granary as the second floor collapsed sparks reached the Applemans. Telephone line delay hindered calls, and insurance partially covers the loss.

Two U S Carriers Deployed Near Indo China
